What are weaving hair extensions?

Weaving hair extensions are extensions that have been hand tied or machine sewed onto a weft. They come on a continuous track and can be cut to varied lengths to be sewn on to braided hair, used to construct a wig, or glued directly to your hair (although this is not recommended).

  • What kind of hair do you use?
  • Y-HAIR only use the finest quality virgin human hair which has been carefully and ethically sourced from donors. All cuticles are aligned just like a head of real hair. This means the hair will remain soft and shiny, and can be treated just as your own.

  • What is virgin hair?
  • Virgin hair is hair which has not been processed using dyes or chemicals and represents one of the best choices for quality human hair. The hair is sourced directly from a donor and washed and conditioned without any form of chemical treatments. The hair comes in natural black/brown.

    What is the difference between a lace closure and a lace frontal?

    A lace closure is used at the crown or side of the head to give an illusion of a natural scalp at a particular parting. It is approximately 4” x 4” in size. A frontal is installed at the front of the head starting at the hairline and placed from ear to ear to allow free-parting and style manipulation across the entire front portion of the hair. It is approximately 13.5” x 4” in size.

    Why don’t you have standard hair types like Brazilian, Peruvian, Indian, Cambodian and Mongolian extensions?

  • How do I install Y-Hair extensions?
  • This is dependent on you or your stylist. A few options include:

    • Sewing or weaving the extensions directly onto braided hair following an exact braiding pattern to create a specific style, with or without a leave out
    • Creating a custom wig
    • Adding clips to the wefts to create clip ins
    • How long can I wear my extensions?

    We would recommend keeping your extensions in for up to 3 months at a time. The exact duration of wear is up to you or your stylist but can be impacted by how well you maintain the initial install.

  • How long will my extensions last?
  • Here at Y-HAIR we pride ourselves in supplying premium quality human hair extensions which can last for up to 18 months depending on maintenance. For maximum longevity please treat your extensions with care and avoid vigorous brushing or using excessive heat.

  • How many individual lengths will I need for a full head?
  • For your full head purchasing needs, we are pleased to provide a range of Full Sets in each of our textures featuring three staggered individual lengths for a complete layered look.

    However if you want to purchase bundles separately we would highly recommend using 2-3 individual lengths for lengths between 12” – 18”are used. For purchases that require lengths between 20”-24” we would advise customers to purchase 3-4 individual lengths to maintain the volume. It is important to note that the longer the hair length the shorter the width of the track end to end. This means for maximum coverage and volume and more individual lengths may be required.



    How best should I handle my extensions?

    Brushing or styling your extensions gently can minimise the hair from falling out. Be sure to use a soft-bristled brush, start at the bottom and slowly work your way up the hair shaft. Remember Y-HAIR extensions should be treated as your own hair.

  • How do I wash and condition my hair extensions?
  • For washing your Y-HAIR extensions, warm water with a moisturising shampoo is recommended, the hair should be treated delicately without vigorous rubbing. Always follow up with a moisturising deep treatment conditioner.

  • What products should I use on my hair extensions?
  • Quality moisturising products are recommended and avoid using gels lots of hair sprays as this can dry the hair out. Always apply a heat protectant when using heat styling tools.

  • Can I straighten my hair extensions?
  • Y-HAIR extensions can be treated as your own so can be straightened. Always use a heat protectant and avoid using excessive heat.

  • Can I colour my hair extensions?
  • Yes. But excessive bleaching is not recommended as this will dry out the hair and reduce the longevity of use.

  • How should I store my hair extensions when I’m not wearing them?
  • For optimal care we recommend keeping your extensions in the supplied packaging, also spray with a leave-in conditioner and a light oil so the hair is soft and supple for the next time usage.



    What is the cost of shipping?

    We are pleased to offer free shipping to all our UK customers. International shipping is set at £16 for Europe, USA and Canada and £20 for the rest of the world.

    Please note customers will be responsible for paying any duty and or tax charges added at the destination country.

  • How long does delivery take?
  • All our products are shipped using a recorded delivery system. This means a tracking number will be provided to you by email upon dispatch of your product. You can use this to find out the status of your package as it makes its way to you. Standard delivery is as follows:

    UK- 2-5 working days, Europe- 7-10 working days, USA and Canada 10-15 working days. Rest of the world up to 21 working days.

    Though we endeavour to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction across all our services; because we rely on a third party to deliver our goods, inevitably there may be delays in postage in the minority of cases. In these events we will do our very best to keep you informed and get your order delivered as quickly as possible.

    Disclaimer: Please note only orders made before 4:30pm UK time will be processed and shipped the next working day. We do not offer a weekend delivery service, therefore the earliest possible delivery for orders placed on a Thursday after 4:30pm will be the following Monday. Customers are responsible for entering their correct delivery address, Y-HAIR will not accept any liability for non-delivery if mistyped/wrong or old addresses have been entered during the order process.

    What Payment methods do you accept?

    Purchases can be made via PayPal however, please note if you’re paying via eCheque on PayPal, payment takes up to 7 days to clear. Orders will not be processed and cannot be sent out before payments are cleared. Once payment clears, you will receive a confirmation email, a dispatch email, and tracking information.

  • We ship both nationally within the UK and internationally to Europe, North America and Canada.   • Has my order been dispatched?
  • After you have placed an order, an email will confirm receipt of your payment. Once the request is processed, your hair will leave our warehouse and you will be informed by email. It can take between 24 and 48 hours post order for dispatch to occur.

  • I have not received my order, what happens next?
  • We are constantly striving to provide the best level of customer satisfaction with both the hair we offer, and the service we deliver. However, in the event that something goes wrong and you have not received your hair extensions within our specified time frames, please contact the Y-HAIR customer service team via email at We will endeavour to establish the problem and deal with your enquiry as a matter of urgency.

  • All items are shipped using the most appropriate method for your destination and order volume.



    What is your returns policy?

    Y-HAIR extensions may be returned for a full refund if unused within 14 days of receipt. If you would like to return your extensions please notify us first by email at including “RETURN” and your order number in the subject. Please do not post anything until you have received confirmation of the correct return address by email. Before sending please ensure all extensions remain in their original packaging and are completely unused with tags intact. All products must remain in a resalable condition and will be checked upon arrival at our warehouse. We will be unable to accept any returns found to be compromised in this way.

    Customers will be responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a trackable service and purchasing insurance to ensure that we safely receive your return. Y-HAIR will not accept liability for any items that do not reach us securely.

    Can I cancel my order after I've placed it?

    If you wish to cancel an order please email with your cancellation request. There are varying time limits in which you can cancel your order depending on which delivery option you chose:

    For Next Day delivery - 15 minutes after completing your order.

    For Standard delivery & all other international delivery options - 60 minutes after completing your order.

    Requests received after this time will not be actioned.

    What is your complaints procedure?

    We pride ourselves in offering high quality products to all our customers. However, On the rare occasion that you receive an item which you suspect is faulty, please notify us by email within 14 days of purchase at We will respond to your email within 48 hours and deal work with you to resolve any problems a=on a case by case basis.
